Choosing the category and product architecture for a home-appliance brand’s FY27 roadmap

Aaru modeled three potential category entries across seven buyer audiences, then carried the leading concept through product configuration, pricing, and commercialization.

A home-appliance brand needed to choose one category for its FY27 product roadmap.

Three candidate entries (a smart countertop oven, a cordless wet-and-dry floor cleaner, and an outdoor cooking line) competed for a single roadmap position, with approximately $40 million in tooling and launch media behind the selection.

The decision had to be made before conventional concept testing could return an answer. The winning category also needed a product configuration, an opening price, a view on a premium tier, and a route to market.

Aaru modeled the decision in the sequence the brand would have to make it: category demand first, then direct concept comparison, then product architecture and commercialization.
